Personal Mission Statement

I have dedicated my life to help foster a healthy cohesive relationship between the between American Muslims & society at large, while also protecting the freedoms that make our nation so great. This mission is ever so important in our time as unfortunately false stereotypes, bigotry, hate, and fear, based on ignorance can divide our community.

When we look at the world around us we see many tragic instances of violence which ultimately are a result of fear and hatred resulting from ignorance and misunderstanding. I believe that education is the key to promoting peace and mutual respect across communities, cultures, and borders. It is thus vital that we build bridges of understanding, tolerance, and respect throughout our society.

I believe American Muslims have two important responsibilities which are necessary to promote peace and mutual respect. American Muslims must reach out to the community at large and engage in dialog and education to dispel stereotypes and misconceptions and focus on shared common values. American Muslims also have the responsibility to share with people throughout the Muslim world about the good of the American people and freedoms and justice of America which should serve as an example.

Once we understand and respect each other, people of all faiths and cultures can work together to achieve our mutual interests and fight our common enemies: ignorance, hatred, bigotry, violence, poverty, diseases, and injustice.

The Quran teaches:
"13. O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)."

When we understand one another, by nature, we will also respect and love each other. It is my vision that any community where all cultures are understood and respected will be a beacon of hope for the world. Thus I hope to promote understanding, peace, and mutual respect by offering gratuitous educational and consulting services on all issues relating to Islam, Muslims, and Civil Rights..

As Director of CAIR Tampa, I will work to:

  1.  Offer free guest speakers, classes, and seminars to high schools, universities, organizations, institutions, places of worship, businesses, and government
  2. Offer free consulting, especially to various social service, law enforcement, health, judicial, business, and academic organizations on how to better understand and accommodate the beliefs, practices, and needs of the Muslims they may serve.
  3.  Assist social service organizations in reaching out and working with the local Muslim communities
  4.  Work with the Media to ensure that the American people are not cheated by the portrayal of an inaccurate image of Islam.
  5. Educate the community  about its legal rights and responsibilities.
  6. Stand up for the civil rights of all Americans through advocacy work and engaging the legal system.
